Excerpt!

I've done very little promo for my latest book, Lusting the Enemy. But I have been writing when I can to get the next book out there.

So...Here is an excerpt not found anywhere else.

Judas stepped into his private mandeolo quarters he’d ordered prepared. He barely noticed the hundreds of magnolia-scented candles glowing in the darkened room, where thick drapes had been pulled over the windows. Barely heard the discreet throb of a stringed jae and the accompanying beat of a pak pak from the room next door.

Music intended for seduction.

It was an unnecessary touch. He was already all too conscious of the fire burning hot in his loins, the aching heaviness of his balls. The damn rakkia robe that flowed from one shoulder and fell to mid-thigh did little to hide his arousal. His cinched belt, with the sheaved sword jostling on one hip and the double fighting rods on the other, served only to draw focus to his cock that had taken on a mind all of its own.

Damn. What had that chit done to him? Even the gold links on his forearms felt overly-tight, his entire body taut with need.

But then, he’d never expected to find a girl even halfway as beautiful as the silver-blonde siren staring up at him amongst the chattel in the holding yard—let alone one with her kind of surreal magnificence that bespoke of the shape- shifting blood running through her veins.

The way she’d held his stare and challenged him had stirred something deep within even before she’d disrobed and bared her amazing body. And he’d known well before he’d forced his gaze to the other women that he wanted her and only her. Wanted to duel with her, tame the wildness within…well, just a little.

He’d had more than enough of subservient women.

His cock jerked. Christ. If he were truly honest it had become imperative that he fuck her, to fill her cunt with the full, hard length of his shaft as she begged him for release.

But as king he’d first had to take care of the trivial, mind-numbing matters that begat his lot in life, all of which had taken far too many hours. Hours in which his every thought had centered on the she-cat masquerading as a pure-blooded human, and who waited for him even now.

The royal lineage had access to records and knowledge few others did. Even without such information he knew exactly how the nearly extinct shifter—a larakyte—would look in human form. Hair and irises hued with silver, body tall, slender and graceful. Hell, even the way they carried themselves with an almost unworldly inherent grace and poise revealed their true ancestry.

She’d managed the almost impossible feat of hiding her true-self from the jealous, all-seeing eyes of the women in the holding yard. And with luck she would continue the façade—at least until he’d decided what was to be done with her.

Though she’d done a brilliant job so far of keeping her inner beast at bay, he couldn’t risk her staying for more than a night or two at most. She was young, inexperienced at the art of shielding. He had little choice but to escort her back to her people before anyone discovered her identity and hurt her…or worse.

His jaw tightened. She couldn’t stay, no matter how much he might wish otherwise.  The vast majority of his people were hell bent on seeing all shifters dead. Worse were those in his ranks who pretended to be sympathizers, mortals who’d risk their own lives to kill a larakyte—any shifter—to free the world from a species who were a rung above humans.

He shook his head, shoulders growing tight with anger and frustration.

Fools.

New Release!!! Lusting the Enemy

Lusting the Enemy is out!! *woot* Nothing quite like a release day =)) You can buy it now at the Jasmine Jade site but I'm hoping it will be available soon through Amazon, B&N etc. This is book 1 of what will be a 3 book (or more) series.

BLURB:
Akeisha is on a mission to be chosen as part of a harem for the desert king, Judas. She’ll use her body to entice and beguile, do anything it takes to save the near-extinct larakytes, her shape-shifting silver panther tribe, from Judas’ human subjects, who are trying to eradicate them.

She never expects to succumb to the wild ecstasy in his arms, a pleasure that threatens to expose her inner cat even as it transcends anything she’s ever felt from one of her own kind.

Falling in love with a human enemy was never part of the plan, but maybe there’s more to Judas than meets the eye.

Galactic Holiday

Do you like your Sci-Fi? Do you love novella's that introduce you to a loved author/s plus maybe someone new? Then this anthology from Carina Press might be the perfect read for you over these Christmas holidays! I know I'll sure be reading it - I already know I love Anna Hackett's stories and I'm looking forward to two new authors on my reading list =)

So without further ado, welcome Anna Hackett, Stacy Gail & Sasha Summers with A GALACTIC HOLIDAY

Five words that most fit your story?:

Stacy: 1. Futuristic   2. Cyberpunk   3. Sexy-Romance (if you hyphenate it, it's one word!)   4. Holiday   5. Mystery

Anna: Action, Adventure, Sensual-Romance (if Stacy can hyphenate, so can I!), Space-opera, Holiday

Sasha: Adventurous, Steamy, Revelatory (for the characters), Holiday, Romantic

The idea behind the story?:

Stacy: Reina and Edison, the main characters in HOW THE GLITCH SAVED CHRISTMAS, are actually the MCs in a much larger story slated to be told in 2013-2014.but for now,  I thought it would be a kick to get these two Chicagoland police detectives started with a Grinch-in-reverse case they have to solve just days before Christmas.  Reina is a Neo-Luddite, while her new partner, Edison loves all things tech and has undergone extreme bod-modding.

I’m kind of in love with the concept of how humanity works/evolves with an ever-growing obsession with tech.  Add the white-hot chemistry going on between Reina and Edison, plus a nifty dash of a glitchy Christmas miracle, and you’ve got HOW THE GLITCH SAVED CHRISTMAS!

Anna: I knew that in WINTER FUSION I wanted to explore the idea of holidays and family far into the future and far into space. My ice world of Perma was born and I imagined the people who settled a harsh world like that would be family-oriented with a strong sense of community. My heroine, Brinn is from Perma and as a Galactic Trade Negotiator, fights hard for her planet.

My hero, Savan, however is from Rendar. The complete opposite of Perma. Rendar is a high-tech, energy-dependent world with no families and no holidays. It was fun to throw these two together (and add an assassin on their trail) and see how they worked together. And the attraction between them is hot enough to melt some of Perma’s ice!

Sasha: Riley is this tough chick who doesn’t count on anyone or anything except herself. When circumstances find her trapped on a station full of strangers, she has to learn to trust in order to stay alive. And Leo, the guy who saves her from the ice, kind of ratchets things up a notch with his charm. It doesn’t take long before Riley begins to question her lonely lifestyle and her feeling for Leo.

Hero and Heroine deserve to be together because...?:

Stacy: They need each other.  Though if you were to ask them, they’d probably give you a bunch of cocky swagger about how they don’t need anything!  But they’re both flawed (sorry Reina and Edison, but it’s the truth :P), and when one stumbles, the other is there to pick up the pace.  They might be opposites in a lot of ways, but underneath it all they’re a perfect fit.

Anna: Everyone deserves a happily ever after! Savan needs more than a bad past in the wars and a fast-paced, tech-dependent life and Brinn’s just the woman to show him that. For Brinn, family is the cornerstone in her life and she’s always wanted love. She just never expected it to come from her most bitter rival at the trade tables.

Sasha: They complement each other. It’s a bit of a role reversal really, Riley’s the defensive and hardened character that seems dismiss the rest of the black (space in my story). Leo wants to save it – or do what he can to make things better. It’s through Leo that Riley learns what community and sacrifice are about. While Riley shows Leo that he has needs beyond his ship and his crew.

Three major differences in your world compared to earth?:

Stacy: Unlike today’s earth, my Chicagoland has:

1.  Hydrogen-based power.  Fossil fuels are a thing of the past. (I WISH. *sigh*)

2.  Cybernetic wetware components.  With nanite technology and neurolinks, humans can go online at the speed of thought.

3.  Androids. Manual labor has been eliminated due to the prevalence of life-like robots that can be programmed to do anything, from sweeping floors to sex acts.

Anna:

1) Perma is all ice – no trees or vegetation just underground thermal power

2) Houses are built from ice and coated in a nanocoating to stop it melting

3) Lingual implants – no more learning languages the hard way! Like I am right now!!

Sasha: Most characters live in the black on stations, existing on protein powder and dehydrated food. So Riley’s first experience with real food is important in the book – and hilarious. Water is scarce so mining ice from ice moons and planets is an important job. We don’t have cryptids. J I hope we never do.

And finally. This book just had to be written because...?:

Stacy: My main characters were driving me freaking batty!  Sad to say, this happens to me more often than you might think.  When an idea is so strong, and it’s populated by powerful characters, I know it’s going to be a good story that needs to be told.

Anna: When I saw the call for sci-fi holiday novellas from Carina Press, it was a challenge just too good to resist! I knew I had to see if I could blend two such disparate concepts. And I’ve always been a sci-fi fan, so I had plenty of ideas just busting to come out in WINTER FUSION.

Sasha: I wanted to see if I could do it. I’d never written short or scifi but the submission call was too freaking cool not to try! Riley kind of popped up in my head – this awesome, interesting character I really wanted to ‘crack’… Enter Leo. No way I was going to turn my back on those two. I’m hoping to write some more for them, actually.  And Leo’s crew… We shall see.

End of Year Ramble/Dear Diary

Summer in Australia almost always equals a heatwave, at least here in Queensland. Right now it's 38 degrees C - bloody hot! With no good amount of rain for too long, even closer to the coast. I've got a water truck coming in tomorrow to fill one of my tanks.

Not likely to see hot roasts and heated food for my family this Christmas. We'll probably divulge in my mother's potato salad and garden salads, along with some cold meats (though I'm not much of a carnivore). I might even go the whole hog and make the trifle everyone loves. Or maybe I'll just order pizza LOL!

Of course my Christmas this year won't be the same. Two of my daughters won't be here. Miss fourteen will be working away for five weeks over the holidays with her sister, where the money is over twice of what she is getting here (yes, she's excited at that prospect). Luckily my husband is coming home from where he's working so I'll spend some time with him and Miss five. And hopefully my mum too =))

In the meantime there is light at the end of the tunnel - I have only 2 bedrooms of my house left to paint! The house is on the market, now I just need a buyer so I can move further North and join my hubby!! (not to mention being closer to my eldest daughter).

So things are really happening here on the personal front. Hopefully the hard work will pay off.

On the writing front, I've started book 2 of my new shape shifter series, set in a dystopian type world. No official word on the series name yet, but the tentative title for book 2 is Abducting the Princess. Writing has slowed with everything going on around me but I'm pushing myself to get some words onto paper now I have official deadlines =)

Merry Christmas everyone, may you all have the best one yet!!

Cover Reveal: SKIN

Loving this cover for my fantabulous CP, Kylie Scott's novel SKIN set in the same world as FLESH. It releases Febuary 1st but you can preorder it for the almost giveaway price of around a dollar. It's a standalone read but I highly recommend you also read Flesh, which has had some amazing reviews.

You can read the first chapter at Kylie's blog for a teaser you won't resist =))

In the meanwhile, here's the blurb:

Nick is a man with a plan. He’ll treat Roslyn like a Queen, devoting the rest of his life to protecting and providing for her. In exchange, of course, for sexual favours. It’s the deal of the century given the state of the world. But Roslyn doesn’t see it that way. The first chance she gets she attacks the ex-army man and attempts to escape, forcing Nick to contain her. And so begins his awkward courtship of the woman, with her chained to the bed for security reasons.

Chained like a dog and forced to spend her every waking moment with a creep, albeit a good looking one, Ros is determined to escape. When circumstances force them to band together against a common enemy their very survival depends on their ability to learn to trust each other. An uneasy partnership develops, but can a relationship with such a difficult beginning ever have a future?

The hotly anticipated sequel to Flesh, Skin is set in the same universe with a different set of characters.

Update: A New Series & 2013 Outlook

A while ago I put up a poll on my sidebar asking which series readers of my books would prefer (long story short the figures from the poll disappeared so I pulled the whole thing down) -- it was pretty even between starting a new series and continuing on with both my Winged & Dangerous as well as the Alien Hunger series.

That being said, at the end of this year, Dec 19, Lusting the Enemy will be released - book 1 of a new shape shifter series I hope you will all love, which is set in a dystopian type world. The series title is not yet confirmed, but will know very soon. I've already written out the synpsis' of the next two books in the series and have deadlines for them both early next year - no excuses now but to get them done and handed in.

Of course I have to finish my Call Girl story first...

So...in 2013 I will have two more books out from my new series. Galactic Flame (title to be approved) will be released hopefully Jan or Feb which will be book 3 from the Alien Hunger series, with plans for another one simmering away.

Dimensional is a 90kish story I really want done and dusted next year no matter what! So that will take priority too. And maybe another gargoyle story (winged & dangerous).

I've also got a few stories I've started or want to start. Chameleon is another shape shifter story that I've planned to turn into a series (pack mate series). I'm only a few chapters in and not really sure where this one belongs just yet. Her Dark Guardian and Eva's world are two stories I started years ago and just never got around to finishing. I'd be pretty happy to see them done and dusted too. For those interested, Her Dark Guardian is a vampire novella, Eva's World (title to be changed) is about a woman who has an affinity with cats (won't say anything more lol!)

Last but not least is a story I dreamed about a good 12 months ago or more now, which I seriously can't wait to start on. A post apocalyptic style of story with super powers and kidnapping. Yeah. Really can't wait! LOL!! But not sure this one will see the light of day in 2013. I had better get cracking!!!!!! =)))))

And one more from the Hot Down Under girls!

Here's one more from the December Hot Down Under girls. Dream Lover is C.T. Green's debut story, be sure to check it out! =)

Five words that most fit you, the author?
Irreverent, cynical, romantic, loving, creative.

The idea behind your Momentum story?
Girl gets lost in the Australian bush and finds the love of her life.
This idea was brought about by a Scout camp and a particularly gorgeous
sunrise. My husband was still asleep and so were the kids, but I remember thinking:
What if it was just him and I, coffees in hand, admiring this beautiful scenery together.
That got me thinking about what it would be like to have the guy of your dreams
with no twenty-first century distractions, but a secret standing in the way. What if the guy
came to your rescue? I think most women love a guy who feels deeply enough to pursue her
in spite of any barriers they may have between them.

Fav paragraph from the story?
Where Reece (my hero) finally give in to the inevitable and can’t fight his feelings any longer
(did I mention he’s naked and sexy in a sleeping bag?).
He risks it all by telling Cate (my heroine), even though he has no idea if she feels the same way.
I kinda love a strong man brought to his knees by love and a good woman.

The heroine is someone you would like to…?
Have a glass of wine with and snicker about how cute men are when they’re being all noble, heroic and completely clueless.
Admiring a hot firefighter or two doesn’t go amiss either!

The hero makes you want to…?
Drink something cool and fan myself. That or ruffle his hair and tell him his torture...is in no way over - at least until I say so. : D

Will there be more from these characters or this world?
Not at the moment - though I would like to see Fiona (Reece and Cate’s friend) find a hero who’ll accept her, um, naughty habit.

At the moment I have something new planned that involves lots of sexy paranormal men and women who all work for the Supernatural Entity Recovery Agency a.k.a The Scary Fairies.

99C Dark Mafia Romance for a limited time!

For those readers not already in KU, I've put book 1 of the Gangsters at War series on sale at Amazon for 99c for a very short time. E...
